Switching a vendor off and on
Switching a vendor off and on
You can switch a vendor off at any time in Mocca Settings, for example while a key is being replaced or a vendor account is under review. Always switch it with the Enable checkbox on the vendor’s tab and Save: that is what tells Mocca to catch up later.
While a vendor is off
- Nothing is read from the vendor, and its instant updates are refused.
- Switched Off At on the vendor’s tab shows when it went off.
- Vendors stop retrying refused deliveries after a while, and some (Shopify, Mailchimp) may delete or disable the webhook subscription. Check it in the vendor’s dashboard after switching back on.
When you switch it back on
Mocca re-reads what it missed, starting from the moment the vendor went off. This is the catch-up. It applies to Peek Pro, Shopify, Square, Eventbrite and Mailchimp. (Meta Ads, Google Ads and Social have no catch-up: they re-read their usual window every night.) Mailchimp works a little differently, see below.
- When you save the vendor as enabled, Switched Off At becomes Catch Up From.
- That night, the vendor’s usual safety net runs first (the last 48 hours).
- Then the catch-up runs: Mocca re-reads the gap in two-day slices, oldest first. After each slice it moves Catch Up From forward, so if the night’s run is cut short, the next night continues from there instead of starting over. Eventbrite reads the whole gap in one pass.
- When the gap is closed, Catch Up From disappears from the tab.
A long gap can take more than one night. You can watch Catch Up From move forward each morning.
Mailchimp
Mailchimp shows Switched Off At and Catch Up From too, but it has no slices: its nightly reconcile simply continues from where it stopped when Mailchimp went off. Catch Up From disappears after the first night whose reconcile finishes cleanly with Read Only off. While Read Only is ticked, Mocca sends nothing to Mailchimp, so Catch Up From stays until you untick it and a clean run follows.
When the catch-up keeps failing
For Peek Pro, Shopify, Square and Eventbrite: if a slice fails (the vendor is down, a key is wrong), the catch-up stops for the night and Catch Up Failures on the vendor’s tab goes up by one. The next night it tries again from the same slice.
After five failed nights in a row, Mocca stops trying and writes an entry in the Error Log titled “
To restart a stopped catch-up
- Find and fix the cause. The Error Log entries from the failed nights say what went wrong; often it is an expired key (paste a new one and run Test Connection).
- On the vendor’s tab, untick Enable, click Save, tick Enable again and click Save.
That resets Catch Up Failures and the catch-up starts again the next night. If you prefer to load the missing range by hand instead, ask your administrator: they import the range and clear the catch-up fields.
Limits
- Shopify can only look back 60 days without an extra permission; see Shopify.
- A catch-up re-reads only what the vendor’s API still offers. Anything older needs a manual import by your administrator.
